Updated: A537 reopens following serious collision near Chelford

The A537 Chelford Road has now reopened following a serious collision earlier today. 

The incident was reported at approximately 7.20am today, Tuesday 25th April, and involved a white Ford pickup truck and a white Vauxhall Vivaro transit van. 

As a result of the collision the drivers of both vehicles suffered serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 21-year-old man from Congleton, was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the transit van, a 44-year-old woman from Neston, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital by air ambulance. 

As a result of the incident the A537 Chelford Road was closed in both directions whilst officers dealt with the collision, the road reopened at approximately 2.20pm. 

Enquiries into the cause of the collision are currently ongoing and anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contract Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 97 of 25/4/2017. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
