Large quantity of cash stolen from ATM

Officers are appealing for information following an ATM robbery in Chelford.

Shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday, 11th April, officers were called to reports that offenders had targeted the ATM cash machine outside the Shell Garage at the Alderley Road roundabout in Chelford.

Officers attended the scene and discovered that the cash machine outside the garage had been forced open with an angle grinder and a large quantity of cash had been stolen. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 1.00am and 3.00am on Tuesday, 11th April.

Detective Inspector Claire Jesson said: "Investigations into this incident are currently in the very early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV analysis and forensics.

"This garage is located at a busy junction and as part of this investigation I'm keen to hear from anyone who passed through the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious."
