Alderley Athletic experience the premiership

everton visit

On Sunday 20th December 50 players from Alderley Athletic Junior Football Club, known as The Squirrels, travelled to Goodison Park to watch a Premier League football match between Everton FC and Birmingham City.

The children aged from 7 to 11, accompanied by parents, set out from Alderley Edge in the snow on a coach and arrived at Goodison in plenty of time to enjoy pitch side photos, a goodie bag and of course the match. The club kindly gave each child £5 to spend in the Club Mega store.

Jonathan Rowley, Vice Chairman of The Squirrels, said “It was a fantastic day and all at no cost to the children. One of our older players signed for Everton last week and therefore has to leave our club so this trip was a great link for us and a great experience for the children, the majority of which had never seen a premiership football match for real.”

Jonathan explained “ We are building links with Everton going forward. My father in law played for Everton in the 50’s, his grandson Jon-Paul Rowley is now a player in the team and hopefully a few of our players might even start to support Everton.”
