A number of properties in the village were without power for several hours on Wednesday 1st March and Tuesday 28th February as a result of a cable fault.

An underground cable fault caused the loss of power to 165 customers in Alderley Edge on Tuesday night at 10pm.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West, said: "Engineers quickly arrived onsite but due to access issues and the time of night engineers were not able to install a generator until first thing in the morning."

Power supplies were then interrupted from about 2pm until about 7pm on Wednesday 1st March whilst engineers completed the repair.

A spokesperson for Electricity North West said "Power supplies were removed to customers yesterday to allow our engineers to safely carry out a full repair on the cable to ensure customers receive a reliable power supply to their homes.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their support. If any customers need any further information we are on hand 24/7 on the new national number 105 or Twitter @ElectricityNW."
