Vandals wreck another planter

DSCN2635

Given all the effort put in by volunteers to make our village look more attractive, they were especially disappointed to see that another of the planters on London Road has been broken.

The ceramic container located on the corner of London Road and Carlisle Street was smashed on Saturday night.

Councillor Christine Munro said "It is very sad", adding "We are looking into buying some vandal proof planters at the moment".

On a happier note many residents will have noticed the recently planted bulbs are starting to come up.

Volunteers were joined by local businesses and schools in an effort to plant 20,000 bulbs around the village last month, to generate a display of colour in the village ahead of this year's North West In Bloom.

Hello Stuart, it is very kind of you to offer to help us.
At the moment we are looking at some glass reinforced planters which are very reasonably priced and frost proof. The firm who supply them have quite a large range of styles and designs and an amazing range of colours too. Some of them would really brighten our village up without adding any flowers or plants!
They're made by a local firm and so we have been along to see them and also brought some to the village to see them in situ.
We are looking for sponsorship and donations at the moment and would be very grateful for any help you can give us.
Our group, The Alderley Edge Partnership, have already entered the village for Britain in Bloom this year, and as we won a Silver Gilt Award last year our aim is for a GOLD this time. We're aiming for the top!!!
If you can help my e-mail address is
Thank you.
Christine

Just a quick update on the lollipop tree and planter. I have been down and removed the tree. It is presently in my car. So don't be concerned that someone has stolen it. I would like to thank 2 very kind residents who helped me load it. I will remove the damaged planter tomorrow.

Anything breakable as a waste of money, with the drunken behaviour of the people using the bars in the village in the evening
