PCSO Sarah Stanley is holding a Community Speedwatch meeting on Thursday, 16th February, in the hope of attracting new members to the Alderley Edge team.

She said "The Alderley Edge Community Speedwatch Team are after new volunteers to join their team in an effort to educate speeding motorists.

"All that is required from a volunteer is a minimum of one hour per month where they can monitor and record the speed of traffic at the road side. They will be in company with one or two further volunteers and on occasion the local Police Commmunity Support Officer."

Volunteers are trained in the use of a speed gun and spend an hour whenever they can recording the speed of passing vehicles on the main roads in the village. They record vehicles that are traveling in excess of 36mph in a 30 mile speed limit, motorists are then sent a warning letter from the police.

The meeting will take place at 7pm in The Emerson Suite at Alderley Edge Festival Hall on Thursday, 16th February.
