The Ryleys joins in village bulb bonanza

Pupils in Year 6, Nursery and Pre-School at The Ryleys School have joined in the village's efforts to plant 20,000 flower bulbs ahead of this year's North West in Bloom competition.

Children at The Ryleys planted a number of bulbs in pots to place within the school garden then on Tuesday 24th January, Year 6 pupils planted hundreds of crocus and tulip bulbs on the grass at the corner of Ryleys Lane and Chorley Hall Lane.

Head teacher, Mrs Claire Hamilton, who joined in with the planting said: "This has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to get together and help the local community. We are all looking forward to seeing the bulbs in bloom and make a spectacular display for all those who live in and visit the village."
