Smile for Spring to support local charity

Alderley Edge Youth Council recently launched a fundraising project entitled 'Smile for Spring' to raise money for local charity Time Out Group.

Councillor Rachael Grantham explained "They were the natural choice as their logo is a smile and they work with adults with learning difficulties across Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Handforth."

She added "Time Out Group members came along to a Youth Council meeting before Christmas to tell us about the charity, how it works and what they do. They were delighted to be our nominated charity for 2017."

The project will start with a poster competition which all three village schools have been invited to take part in. Children have been asked to design a poster advertising the sale of smiley face badges during the month of April.

A winner will be chosen from each school and they will receive a prize, plus there will an overall winning poster that will be displayed around the village.

Rachael added "We are currently speaking to the business in the village to see if they would be willing display a poster and have a box of badges on sale, during April."

If anyone would like to be involved with the project or has any ideas or suggestions please email Rachael Grantham
