Having smashed their record for the number of trees ever registered, organisers of the East Cheshire Hospice Christmas Tree Collection have unfortunately had to postpone this weekend's collection due to the weather conditions.

Weather permitting the 2017 Christmas Tree Collection will now take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd January.

Richard Raymond said "We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support."

Registration remains open, so if you have not done so already you can book for your tree to be collected until 5pm on Thursday, 19th January.

The team of volunteers have been collecting and recycling Christmas Trees in aid of East Cheshire Hospice since 2001 and to date they have raised over £680,000 raised to date.

This year the collection team are aiming to raise over £100,000 for the Hospice by collecting and recycling 7,500 Christmas trees.

Earlier this week they announced the fantastic news that they have broken last year's total to set new record with 6783 trees registered.

The East Cheshire Hospice Christmas Tree Collection, which was awarded a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service this year, is believed to be the world's largest, volunteer led, Christmas Tree Collection and Recycling Scheme.
