Volunteers are delighted to announce that the Alderley Edge Poppy Appeal has raised an increased amount this year.

A total of £8,421 has been collected so far, which represents an 11% increase on the £7589 collected to last year. Many of the donations were 'gift aided' so additional money will be added later in the year.

John Brooks, Chairman of the Alderley Edge Branch of the Royal British Legion said "We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year's Poppy Appeal, and to all the volunteers who gave their time helping with the collections."

During the summer services were held at both St Philip and St James Church and Alderley Edge Methodist Church to remember those who took part in the Battle of Somme in 1916. Collections from these services enabled £377 to be donated to the 2016 Poppy Appeal.
