Plans have been confirmed for a popular festive fundraiser which has taken place in the village for over 35 years.

Alderley Edge's 36th annual Charity Carol Night will take place at The Yard on Sunday 18th December with music provided by Fay Wertheimer and musicians from The Carlton Ensemble, who kindly donate their services.

Fay Wertheimer said "It was held by chance in 1981 at Number 15 Wine Bar and continued there till its closure in 2008. The Charity Carols Night's raised over £34,000 for different local causes nominated each year by revellers present – semi-present -and blotto!

"Previous donations also supported survivors of the Penrhos Boat Disaster, Biafra, the AIDS epidemic and Homelessness. It started out a bit tongue–in–cheek and has developed into a well-supported village tradition the Sunday before Christmas."

Tickets priced £27.50 include a £10 charity donation, starter nibbles, main course, mince pies and complimentary mulled wine.

If you would just like to come and sing, rather than dine, organisers request that you arrive by 9 pm and donate £10 at the door for charity.

Email for tickets or call 01625586562.
