Gifts galore at new George Street shop

A new luxury gift shop opened on George Street last week, in the premises previously occupied by Ayla Rose lingerie boutique.

Bettie Blue is owned by Hale resident Carol Marks whose shop was originally located in her home village.

Carol told alderleyedge.com "It has been a long time since Bettie Blue was providing high quality and original gifts in Hale, but I am excited to say that I have decided to re-open in a new location on George Street in Alderley Edge.

"I had a small cottage industry designing and making fashion and hair accessories which grew into a very successful business. I supplied to every major retail store including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, John Lewis, in the 80's. This grew into one of the largest accessory manufacturers in England. I then decided to change direction and go into retail and found a shop in Hale which was the original Bettie Blue."

The shop stocks a selection of gifts and accessories with brands including Melissa Odabash, Frescobol Carioca, Heidi Klein, Pellini, Charlotte Bird Jewellery and Otis Batterbee. Alongside gifts for him, her and the home, Bettie Blue also has a selection of baby and children's gifts.

Speaking about her new venture, Carol said "I opened in Alderley Edge because I thought it would be a new venture and I love the village atmosphere."
