Police priorities set for Alderley Edge

Our PCSO held a public meeting last week offering people the opportunity to talk about the policing issues that concern them the most in the village.

Police Community Support Officer Sarah Stanley organised the first 'Working Together' meeting' on Wednesday, 12th October, at the Festival Hall. Several residents were in attendance, along with representatives from Cheshire Fire and Rescue service and Alderley Edge Parish Council.

Local issues were discussed with the residents and priorities were set for Cheshire Police to concentrate on for the next 4 to 6 weeks.

The priorities are speeding on Chorley Hall Lane and speeding on Heyes Lane.

PCSO Stanley said "Myself and staff from the Festival Hall are going to place the SID on these road to help reduce speeders and raise awareness. Myself and the Community Speedwatch Volunteers will conduct sessions on these roads again to reduce speeders and raise awareness."

"She added I am going to speak to the local schools and see if they would be interested in road safety talks to pupils and speed awareness sessions for parents.

"I am also going to discuss with Councillor Craig Browne to discuss what CEC have planned and what we can do in the short and long term periods."

Other issues were raised which are being passed on to Cheshire East Council and Environmental Health for their action such as dog fouling issues on Green Lane and a fence on Davey Lane which is obstructing the view of the road.

The next meeting date will follow in early November.

Thanks to PCSO Stanley for taking people's comments on board especially around speeding a constant problem and especially as the nights are drawing in for winter. Can I applaud her for her initiative to speak to the schools and parents to make them aware of these important issues and I would hope they take this advice on-board.
