Two men were arrested in Alderley Edge on Monday, 10th October, after police carried out a stop-check on a vehicle.
The two male occupants of the car had decamped from the vehicle upon being stopped on Macclesfield Road at approximately 9.30am.
After a search of the area both men were located and arrested.
Sergeant Mark Durkin said "The males were arrested on suspicion of theft of the vehicle, although later enquiries revealed that it was not a stolen car. However, the driver was subsequently charged with driving offences."
