Local Plan hearings resume next week

Councillor Craig Browne attended a meeting of the Local Plan Members Panel on Thursday, 1st September where they were given an update on a procedural meeting on the proposed changes to the Local Plan Strategy which was held on the 23rd August.

He confirmed that the hearings on the Local Plan, which will shape development across the Borough up to 2030, are due to commence on Tuesday, 13th September.

Speaking at the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 5th September, he said "The Inspector has confirmed that he will not permit any of the hearing time to be given over to looking at either omitted or objection sites so they are sites that received representation saying that either they were omitted incorrectly from the original plan or where there is an objection to its existence in the original plan.

"Also the inspector will not permit any new evidence to be submitted during the hearings that begins to take place from the beginning of September.

"Having said that 278 'matter statements' have been returned, these are basically statements challenging various bits of the Local Plan Strategy as it existed. So Cheshire East Council has had an opportunity and is currently preparing responses to the 'matter statements' each response is about 3000 words so its not a small task."

Craig Browne added "We'll have an opportunity to submit 20 rebuttal statements during the course of the hearings. An appraise of this is going to be sent to all the Cheshire East Council members following a meeting of the Local Plan task force this week and following that an update is going to be sent to all town and parish councils as well so we will hopefully have a better appreciation of what's going on and where things are up to."
