Push for new school crossing

Cheshire East Highways are currently carrying out a programme to improve road safety outside schools across Cheshire East. The programme involves refreshing or amending SCHOOL - KEEP CLEAR markings and installing signs to make the markings enforceable.

Cllr Craig Browne commented "I welcome this programme of safety improvements and am working with the head teachers at each of the three schools in Alderley Edge to make sure that we get the right improvements implemented. In addition to the KEEP CLEAR signs, I am also working to get a zebra crossing installed on Ryleys Lane (between Eaton Drive and the layby in front of the Ryleys School) which would help to create a safe route to school both from the Lakes Estate and through the playing fields."

"Following a recent meeting with Chris Shields at Cheshire East Highways, I have been advised that only four pedestrian crossings have been funded this year across the whole of Cheshire East, so in addition to working with the head teachers and governors at both the Primary School and The Ryleys School, I am also calling on parents to support me by writing to Chris Shields, raising this as a concern and for funds to be allocated in the 2017/18 capital budget."

"I would encourage anyone who is able to send a letter, to drop me an email for further details."
