Thieves target four properties within 24 hours

Police are urging residents to be vigilant after four burglaries have been carried out, or attempted, in a 24 hour period.

On Tuesday, 23rd August, a house on Woodlands Road in Handforth was broken into and a vehicle was stolen. The offender has since been arrested and the vehicle has been recovered.

On the same day someone entered a vehicle which was parked on the driveway of a property on Goodrington Road in Handforth. Some keys were obtained from within the vehicle which they attempted to use to enter the house, however they were not the correct keys for the property so the offender left.

A house on Brook Lane in Alderley Edge was also broken into on Tuesday, 23rd August. The offender gained entry via the rear door but nothing was taken as they were disturbed and fled the scene.

The fourth incident occurred overnight on Tuesday, 23rd August, on Bramwell Way in Handforth. Offenders removed car keys from the property, via the letterbox, and left the scene in the vehicle.

PCSO Emma Darroch said "There is nothing to state that these burglaries are related."

She added "Please be mindful of the above and make sure that you do not leave any keys near the front door. A hook or cane can easily be put through the letter box and your keys can easily be picked up in the process."

Residents are requested to report any suspicious incidents or activity in their area to the Police via 101. You can also provide information anonymously to Cimestoppers on 0800 555111.
