Patching work scheduled for Brook Lane and Hough Lane

Brook Lane Pothole Repairs (ii)

Over recent months, Councillor Craig Browne has been calling for Cheshire East Highways to carry out carriageway repairs across a number of areas in Alderley Edge.

The requested work has now been scheduled to take place in early September.

Councillor Craig Browne said "Type two patching, which is similar to what has recently been done in Talbot Road, will be carried out shortly on Brook Lane and also Hough Lane."

Work on Brook Lane, from Russet Way to Sunninghey Court, is due to be completed on Friday 2nd September, whilst work on Hough Lane will be carried out on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th September. During these days traffic management or temporary road closures will be in place.

Councillor Craig Browne added "Residents often raise Heyes Lane with me and I would like to reassure them that I have reported this also, particularly the section between Grantham's shop and Hough Lane.

"I have been advised that this has been logged and that either surface dressing or type two patching will be carried out, but that because of the cost involved, it will need to be included in next year's capital budget."

Just in time for the Tour of Britain then! Shame the route doesn't include a few more roads around the village.

I cycle/drive that particular stretch of Brook Lane, and it has been 'temporarily' resurfaced a number of times over the last few years, and within a few months the holes open up again.
How about a proper job this time!

@ Paul...can't agree more. If you watch the people repairing these potholes you can see why the "repair" lasts in some cases [eg alongside the golf club on Brook Lane], only weeks. In some cases the "repair" is so poor you'd be convinced the new tarmac had been dropped from a low flying aircraft! A proper job would take longer but I'm sure would be far more cost effective.

I agree with both above comments and hope that they manage to have all the cars removed before they start the repairs. The edge of the road by the Golf Club is a major problem every time they do some "repairs" but that is unlikely to be fixed this time.

Dear all,

By way of an update, I have just been advised that the works on Brook Lane will now take place on Saturday 3rd Sept and that there will be a road closure from Russet Way to Sunninghey Court between the hours of 08.00 and 17.00 . All affected residents will shortly receive a written notification asking them not to park their vehicles on this section of Brook Lane whilst the work is carried out.

Kind regards,
Craig

Just cycled down Brook Lane, road repairs in full swing, loads of work men and machinery. They're doing a proper job this time, hopefully it will be years before it needs looking at again.
