Heartless vandals strike at memorial garden

The Memorial Garden which opened at Alderley Edge cemetery in November has been vandalised.

Chris Heathcote, Orbitas Bereavement Services Manager, explained "The damage was carried out over the weekend, looking at the plaque which was originally on the boulder at the entrance to the garden, it appears to have been hit with something like a hammer and has been smashed into twelve small pieces so that no part of it remained in place.

"The bird bath, has also been deliberately targeted and although a large piece of the granite has been broken off, none remained on the ground. We suspect it has either been removed by the vandal or thrown away."

The damage has been reported to police, and local residents are requested to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police on 101. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I along with others was involved in getting the Cemetery improved.
The memorial garden (especially for children) is a fine thing.

As for the vandals; may they rot in hell !
