Woman and three children airlifted to hospital following collision with a police car

A woman and three children were airlifted to hospital yesterday following a collision with a police car.

Whilst responding to an emergency incident in Knutsford Macclesfield Local Policing Unit were involved in a road traffic collision at Monks Heath on Wednesday, 20th July.

The collision occurred at the junction of A537 and the A34 at approximately 6.45pm and involved a bronze Vauxhall Zafira and a police car.

Following the collision the driver, a 43-year-old woman, and three passengers, age 2, 7 and 10, from the Vauxhall Zafira were taken to Alder Hey Hospital by air ambulance, with what are believed to be minor injuries.

The driver and passenger from the police car also suffered minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.

A police spokesperson said "A full investigation in relation to the collision has been launched and the incident has been referred to the Cheshire Police's Professional Standards Department for review."
