The ten members of the recently formed Alderley Edge Youth Council have now met three times to discuss issues that are important to them in the village.

Their priorities are to form links with other groups in the village, to work alongside the Parish Council and Cheshire East Council and to make improvements to the park, as well as looking at cycling and road safety.

Councillor Rachael Grantham explained "All aspects of the park are important, however, one of the first things we have been looking at is the children's play area and the bandstand.

"0909It was very clear in our first meeting that table tennis tables under the bandstand were something that the young people in the village would like to see.

"Thanks to the communication between the Youth Council, Cllr Mike Dudley Jones and our Ward Councillor, Craig Browne these have now been ordered and are expected to be in place before the end of August."

Alderley Edge Youth Council's next meeting will be on Monday 19th September in the Emerson Suite at the Festival Hall when they hope to finalise their discussions with respect to the children's play area.

Rachael added "We have invited Marianne Hodgkinson (CEC Parks Officer) along to this meeting, so that she can help explain how the process is going to work, as well as exploring our future plans and ideas for the park."

Look out for an article introducing each of the Youth Councillors over the next few weeks.
