Residents urged to lock doors after two insecure properties broken into

Residents are being warned to make sure their properties are locked when leaving them following two burglaries at residential properties which had both been left insecure.

The first took place at Wolverton House in Alderley Edge sometime between 8am and 5.30pm on Friday, 17th June. Entrance to the apartment was gained via an insecure front door and cash and a watch were stolen.

The second burglary occurred in Marina Close in Handforth sometime between 10.30pm on Friday, 17th June, and 3.38am on Saturday, 18th June.

Entry was gained via an insecure garage from which a spade was taken and used to force open a window. Handbag and car keys were taken along with a car which was parked on the drive.

PCSO Sarah Stanley said "Please remember to lock all doors, windows, sheds and garages when you leave the home, even when you are just nipping to the shop.

"Opportunist thieves have a field day when they can just walk in and out."
