Alderley Edge Hockey Club 1965: Can you identify the unnamed players?

This photograph of Alderley Edge Hockey Club players was taken in 1965 at Guildford.

Kelvin Briggs explained "Prior to the creation of the North West Hockey League in 1972 most fixtures were friendly matches and played on grass. Alderley Edge Hockey Club used to play annual matches against Guildford Hockey Club. The fixture had a 30 year plus history with the club also playing Cheam and Purley with the team staying down south over for the weekend.

"The picture was sent over by one of the Guildford players who now lives in Germany. He met the Alderley Edge Women's 'Back to Hockey' team at a hockey festival in Munich last month and kindly sent it over."

If anyone has any more old hockey pictures, Kelvin Briggs from the club would be very interested to see them as he's compiling a history of the hockey club. The club was founded in 1888 so there is quite a lot of research to do.

The picture includes Terry G Everatt, Guy P Niblett, Colin Birtles, Andy Blackwell, Peter Holt, Peter Wainwright, James Offer Geoff Owen and Chris Whiteley.

Can anyone put names to the other players? If so please let us know via the comment box below.

Back row, 4th from the left is Mike Broomhead.

Thank you Robert, very good spot, should have known that having played a few games with Mike in the late seventies.
Mike ( R M Broomhead ) was first team Captain from 1969 until 1972 and elected President in 1987. He also represented the Cheshire County side.

We have also had John Kidd identified, back row third from the right.

Exciting news! We will have all the names by the weekend as one of the 'class of 65' has been casting a learned eye over the photo!

Kelvin , middle row second from the right looks to me like Pat Kelly.
A little before my time at the club and not sure. maybe somebody could confirm.

We have the following information kindly supplied by Captain, Terry Everatt:-
So we have the names,
In black shirts
Back row :-Chris Whiteley,Mike Broomhead, John Kidd, Gervais Rivington.
Middle row:- Peter Wainwright,Frank Booth, Geoff Owen
Front row:- Alan Carruthers, Gay Niblett, Terry Everatt, Colin Birtles.

So suggestions that Andy Blackwell, Peter Holt and James Offer were in the pic are not substantiated.
