Local families are being invited to take part in a charity walk and help create a new Guinness World Record.

The Wizard Walk is taking place around the village on Father's Day and is designed to be a great day out for dad, with lots of things that dads like to do.

Plus you could be part of a Guinness World Record for the 'largest gathering of wizards'.

The two mile stroll for the whole family is being organised by Maxipotential, an organisation set up by Saz Bailey to raise funds for her 8 year old son Max Bailey who has scoliosis (collapsing spine).

Max, who attends Alderley Edge Community Primary School, requires surgery before his curve impacts his internal organs and becomes life threatening.

His mum Saz explained "Ultimately he'll likely require his spine fused solid and be left with life-long disability and pain management.
I know from my last few years of research that there are routes to a better outcome. So we are fundraising to take him to America for therapies.

"I started fund raising on December 14th 2015, raising £35,000 in 30 days. It is down to this initial kindness and generosity of Max's supporters that he was able to go to America to start his life changing treatment. He had outstanding results which must continue. I am now organising events that give back to our awesome community and the first is the Wizard Walk."

The Wizard Walk on Sunday 19th June will be an accessible two mile walk (Max is in a wheelchair) with lots of fun along the way and at the end.

The family fun day kicks off at 10am with the Grand Wizard Assembly where walkers will be transformed into their wizardry greatness - walkers can pop along to grab your wizard outfit and have your face painted.

The walk will then start at 11am and those participants who complete the magical challenges during the walk will earn their dated wand at the Wizard Council gathering at 11.30am. Dads will be dared to complete daft and crazy challenges during the gathering with fun, food and a licensed bar also available.

The Quidditch League will kick off at 12 o'clock with a trophy for the winning team and at 1.45am organisers are hoping to announce a new Guinness World Record. Team Max needs to recruit 251 wizards in order to beat the current Guinness World Record.

Saz Bailey added "The event is also about raising awareness about scoliosis. Walkers will be challenged to collect a four lined spell along the route. We would like the local children to create the spell to include the word scoliosis and what it is that we are trying to do. They can get their ideas from the website in the About section and use the contact form to submit. "

"Here's an example created by mum."

We're raising funds through Maxipotential,
saving Max from surgery.
We're helping him achieve his true potential,
and creating a global charity!

To register for the Wizard Walk on Sunday 19th June visit www.wizardwalk.org.

Entrance is £7 or less and includes a wizard outfit, route map with activities and a dated ceremonial wand on completion.

The money raised will go towards travel, accommodation and Max's intensive therapy clinics, replacement 3D braces, an adapted wheelchair and car adaptations.

Saz said "He will then require daily visits to attend his exercises or other supporting therapies, costing around £30,000. If he requires less-invasive keyhole surgery available in America we will raise more."
