Cheshire Constabulary has been awarded 'silver' accreditation by Investors in People (IiP) following their review of the effectiveness of the force in leading and supporting its workforce, and its commitment to improving services.

IiP is an internationally recognised award, to which some 14,000 organisations are signed up and Cheshire is one of only five forces in the country accredited to silver level.

Chief Constable Simon Byrne said: "I am delighted that the organisation has been recognised for the commitment we have to our staff, and as a result has been awarded with a silver level accreditation.

"We recognise that developing and harnessing the skills of our staff will help us to deliver an effective service to our communities, and Investors in People provides validation of how far we've come."

Cheshire is also the first force to have been accredited in the Health and Wellbeing element of the IiP assessment.

Simon added: "This result is a fantastic achievement, and I hope this instils confidence in the public of Cheshire that we aspire to be the best employer, with motivated officers and staff clearly focused on the public's priorities."
