New Alderley Edge Medical Centre is officially open

A short ceremony was held today (Monday 11th April) to mark the official opening of the new Alderley Edge Medical Centre at the Festival Hall.

Doctors and medical centre staff were joined by both former and current parish councillors, representatives of Jones Contracts, patients and others who have been involved in the project for a celebratory non-alcoholic drink.

Dr Thompson, who has been involved in the project longer than anyone else, performed the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon using a scalpel.

Speaking about the new medical centre Dr Thompson told me "I think it is fantastic. It is better than I expected.

"We couldn't have imagined these facilities really when you look at what we've been working in."

He added "I found paper work going back 13 years to the start of this project. That shows how much effort and time has gone into it."

Speaking about the move, Dr Thompson said "It was like any house move, it was hectic but we had lots of staff, and we've got great staff, and everyone just joined in and got on with it."

Councillor Geoff Hall, Chairman of Alderley Edge Parish Council said "I've been involved in this for three years now, as I started off project managing it for the doctors. Then obviously I jumped over the fence and joined the Parish Council.

"It's a great achievement to get it done. We have depended very much on the expertise of Jones to help us do it. Any parish council doesn't have the resources itself to take on something of this scale so it has been a real team effort. It has been a real pleasure to work on."

The celebrations were kept brief as it was a normal working for the doctors who moved into the new surgery over the weekend.

The new Alderley Edge Medical Centre will be fully up and running from tomorrow, Tuesday 12th April.
