All wrapped up by vigilante warden

As many readers will know the lack of parking spaces and illegal parking in the village centre is a big concern for a lot of residents, people who work in the village, business owners and visitors to Alderley Edge.

On a weekly basis I am sent photos of vehicles parked illegally by inconsiderate drivers, much to the annoyance of local residents.

Whilst we've seen notes left on windscreens - sometimes politely and sometimes far from - informing people they should not park where they have, today someone went a step further.

A silver Peugeot which was abandoned on double yellow lines on Stevens Street on Saturday, 2nd April, was wrapped in cellophane.

A note was also left on the windscreen saying "This is not a car park you have caused chaos with your selfish parking."

A reader who sent us the above photos, taken at 1.50pm on Saturday, 2nd April, said "With someone else parking legally in the parking space on the other side of the road it left very little space for cars/ vans to go thorough.

"There was a van being off loaded for the balloon shop across the road at the time. As the note said it caused some chaos."

Brilliant and embarrassing for the driver as long as the car isn't damaged a great way of pointing out how considerate the driver had been well donev

Parked on the pavement and double yellow lines. I have no problem with the vigilante although I would prefer the car to be towed and impounded.

Maybe shaming/embarrassing/inconveniencing people is the way forward . These people who park so inconsiderately do not give two hoots about tickets .... They may well think twice about their actions when they have to take time out of their precious lives to collect their vehicle from a lock-up somewhere .... So when's the first dig for the AE Metro ??? My spade and hard hat are ready .... As for my Hi-Vis jacket .. It's on order . Can't wait for the Elm Grove/Davey Lane stop to become operational !!!

Surely the only way to stop selfish parking is to employ traffic wardens, the fines would more than pay for a wage.
