Following on from last year's successful 'sell out' production of Les Miserables, awarding winning youth musical theatre group TEMPO (The Edge Musical Performing Organisation) are very excited about their 2016 production which will be Starlight Express at the Evans Theatre in March.
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and additional lyrics by David Yazbek, this futuristic tail of love and hope in the face of adversity was first performed in the West End in 1984 where it ran for over 7,000 performances, and world-wide it has been seen by over 15 million people.
Chairman Alison Bisset said "We are all so pleased that this year's show will be Starlight Express.
"Starlight Express is a very different style of show from last year's production and the cast have all been hard at work in rehearsals getting to grips with roller-skating. They have really risen to the challenge of learning to sing and dance whilst on roller skates."
There was a big surprise for the cast at a recent rehearsal for this year's show, with the arrival of professional actor Jason Andrew Guest who played Electra in the highly successful German production.
Cast member Holly Henry said "It was lovely to meet and talk to Jason, he gave us all some great tips that he's picked up while performing in the show and I think everyone took something away from that rehearsal. He also gave us some real insight into our characters, helping us to capture their individuality, different personalities and specific movements whilst on our skates. Meeting someone with such a vast knowledge and so much enthusiasm for the show has really inspired us all to give the best performances we can."
Starlight Express – Youth Group Production will be performed at the Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre between Tuesday 8th and Saturday 12th March.
