No trains from Alderley Edge to Crewe for 11 days

Rail passengers wishing to travel from Alderley Edge to Crewe later this month will face long delays.

Major refurbishment work will take place on Holmes Chapel viaduct, including track replacement, waterproofing and brickwork refurbishment, to ensure the viaduct remains fit for future traffic demands.

Work is also taking place at nearby Peover Viaduct, and on a number of other structures on the route.

As a result the route between Alderley Edge and Crewe will be closed from Saturday, 13th February through to Tuesday, 23rd February, with train services resuming on Wednesday 24th February.

On Mondays to Fridays trains will run between Manchester and Alderley Edge via both Stockport and Manchester Airport, with buses between Wilmslow and Crewe.

On Saturdays and Sundays, trains will run between Manchester and Wilmslow via Manchester Airport, with buses between Stockport and Crewe.
