Cheshire East launches survey into key workers housing needs

Cheshire East Council has launched a campaign to meet the housing needs of key workers such as emergency services staff.

The Council wants to hear the views of key workers, currently working in Cheshire East and who have a household income of no more than £50,000.

Firefighters, the police, health workers, social workers and teachers are being invited to feedback information about their housing needs to the Council.

The new Council survey will focus on addressing the problems public services sometimes face retaining key staff, specifically those who provide essential services to our communities.

Councillor Ainsley Arnold, Cheshire East Council Cabinet member in charge of housing and planning, said: "We recognise that we need to help people who provide essential public services to our community but who find it difficult to access the housing market.

"This key worker survey will provide us with essential information about their housing needs. We would like to thank all our partner organisations who help us shape our approach to affordable housing for key workers and look forward to working with them in the future."

The survey can be completed from today (Monday, 8th February) until April 29th on the Cheshire East Council website.

To take part in the survey, respondents also need to be at least five years from retirement age. Those taking part need to not currently own a home but must be seeking to buy a property as their private home.
