Call for the green-fingered to help make the park look better

park

Cheshire East Council has given permission for Alderley Edge Parish Council to manage and create some new flower beds in Alderley Edge park.

This means that either businesses or community groups may take over the responsibility for maintaining a flower bed and can, if they wish, install a small plaque in acknowledgement of their contribution.

G Wienholt Bakery and Alderley Edge Allotments and Garden Society have agreed to maintain a flower bed in the village park and the Parish Council is appealing for more businesses, groups or individuals to take up the opportunity.

Councillor Crag Browne said "The Parish Council will be adopting a bed also, so please don't be put off, if it is something you would prefer to do with a group of other volunteers."

If you are green-fingered and would like to join in helping to make the park look nicer, email Councillor Craig Browne.

This had already been given, as well as an upgrade of the original beds. The allotment soc were going to be involved we hoped but as you know that all stopped. Perhaps now that you want to build on their allotment you will get the same response!!!! Plus what is the part of the park that has been taken over by a garden - Craig, can you investigate as residents keep asking me!

This was originally an initiative from Duncan Herald and was I think included in PC minutes. The people mentioned in the above article kindly agreed to support the plan but withdrew when the 'car park' issue arose. Glad to see that it has been resurrected. I hope many more people get involved as attractive flowerbeds would enhance the park no end.

Hi Mel.,
like your bit about the 'secret garden'.
Some residents also 'complained' to me way back in the day.
At that time I asked the Officers of ansa (aka C.E. parks Dept.) as to whether permission had been sought or given, for this block of land to become an adjunct of someone's house garden. They told me the answer was 'no' and 'no'.
Then I ceased to be involved with the park, except as a private citizen.
Do let us all know what the answer is please.

I've been asked about it today in the park. I know its been reported by someone to CE Duncan recently.

On another matter park housekeeping
1. Steps down to park from London Road need sweeping - there is a gathering of leaves and making it slippy.
2.There is a lot of rubbish on the slope down nest to steps and adjacent to the railway.
3. The banks by the steps to Waitrose are filthy and are a terrible indictment on the village.
4. General comments on the village - Christmas lights out and looked dimmer than usual.
Thanks

Hi Melanie,

Duncan recently pointed out a similar situation regarding litter and debris in the car park at the park.

He wanted someone on the PC to get in touch with someone else at CE to arrange for someone else to clear the mess.

Because Duncan had been a good boy and was wishing very (very) hard, the Litter Fairies came to Alderley Edge and cleaned up the mess.

I don't think that you are going to be as lucky so perhaps you'd better call the man at CE and possibly the Manager at Waitrose (as they own the car park and presumably the banks surrounding it)

G'day Alan,
sadly the litter fairies didn't take away the fly tipped building stuff.
Why shouldn't the P.C. or the P.C. Councilor who is also the C.E. Councilor get on to C.E. ?
You know as well as I that C.E. are more likely to 'jump' for a P. Councilor than for Joe Mug of the public (like me).
Oh where is Beowulf when you need him?

Reported to Cheshire East. In probably the same length of time it takes to type a post on here, you can fill in an online report for fly tipped rubbish.

Good Morning Mike,

I could indeed report fly tipping directly to C.E. And similarly the out-of-order street lighting. And the many blocked grids. And the dangerous barbed wire in the park. And the missing/unreplaced waste bins. etc.etc.

Remind me again; what is the Parish Council for then?

Perhaps we should do all these little tasks ourselves and thus save the £120,000 which the P.C. currently receives from the A.E. citizens.

ok Duncan i'll walk around ignoring things and hopefully someone else will do stuff and when it doesn't get done I can have a damn good moan about how terrible the village is .

Good Afternoon Mike,

'someone else will do stuff';
did you notice that Alan had been the 'Tidy Fairy' by cleaning up the park car park?
You may see me and other dog walkers picking up krap in the park?
You may notice some of the young paperts removing bottles etc. from the kiddies area in the park?

You mustn't let the bright light from your halo blind you to the good works aound you!

Do you really object to the populace (that's me and t'others) expecting the P.C. to rush around keeping things running smoothly in the village?
Oh I forgot, they all have to earn a living and so may not have as much spare time as might be wished; was it not the Chairman of the P.C. who wrote that?

That's enough joshing eh? back tot he more important matters?

By the way, can you shed any light on this matter raised by Mel. regarding the 'takeover' of a piece of the park by a chap?

Some of my points in response to this comment:

"Melanie Connor

Not true, the society is planning on what flowers to plant in the new bed. It will be dug in February.

"Perhaps now that you want to build on their allotment you will get the same response!!!! Plus what is the part of the park that has been taken over by a garden - Craig, can you investigate as residents keep asking me!"

This "garden" is actually part of the allotment land and not park land. Many people use it at lunch times to relax and have a packed lunch. You should refer residents to the new PC as you Melanie are not on the PC anymore.

Fenton,
1. Please don't be rude to a lady. it sets a por example to our younger readers.
2. When there was last an attempt to engage citizens with looking after the exsting flower beds, you and another chap offered to help. I was involved with getting the o.k. from the Officers of 'ansa' to let it go ahead. You were then offended by something said or written by another parish councilor (who had nought to do with the park directly) whereupon you withdrew from your offer; allthough you did not actually trouble to tell me you were withdrawing did you. I had to seek you out to find that out ! So please be careful to give full details when you respond to someone eh?

Could I ask you if you would stand again for election as a Parish Councillor? I only ask because you don't seem to be doing yourself any great service at the moment.

Duncan I wasn't being rude "to a lady". I'd suggest you read my comment again.

Also you know very well why I withdrew my assistance the first time regarding the park beds with the last PC as I emailed you about it. I'm very happy to find those emails and send them out again for clarity.

Oh dear Fenton,
c'mon,'fess up; you threw a hissy fit and took your ball home! leaving the flower beds unattended.

Hi Peter,
not doing myself any great service eh?

Would that be because I keep asking questions about what things will cost? and who will pay? and why can't financial details be released to the general public? and why are questions from other people, as well as I, being ignored? and why are those who swore to defend green space at all costs now happily aiming to build all over several bits of green space? and why are Chorley Hall Lane inhabitants up in arms ? etc. etc. etc.

Would I like to be a parish councilor again? By the time the next elections roll around, I'll have won the Lotto millions and be writing in from Rio ! Youll have to come visit me there.

No, it is more to do with the petty, pedantic, attempts at political point scoring. The ridiculous accusations you make of people being rude whilst being quite impolite yourself. Your endless questioning of people, your expectation for answers, without any willingness from yourself to give honest, forthright answers. And your failed attempts at wit to try and disguise the above.
Duncan Herald

Good Morning Peter,
ask me any question you wish and I'll do my best to answer it. Go ahead.

I do deny political point scoring; I ask questions, as any member of the general public can do. Why don't you demand that questions put by others as well as I, are answered. Then the likes of myself can stop asking questions?
You seem to attack me for having an 'expectation for answers'; isn't that why the state spent a large amount of money on my education?

My 'failed attempt at wit'; oh that hurt me! I always thought that a few attempts at mild jocularity was better than the unhappy insults that some others advance.

However, a spat t'ween you and I is not likely to interest others, so shall you and I simply agree to disagree? and cease to bore others who are more concerned with the important matters?
