Support local hospice and dispose of your tree the charitable way

Volunteers are urging people to support our local hospice and make every tree count this Christmas.

The 16th annual Christmas Tree Collection will take place on one weekend only, Saturday 9th January and Sunday 10th January, and once again they are raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice.

In January 2015, thanks to generous support the collection raised over £91,300, enough to keep the Hospice operating for just over 12 days. This broke the previous record of £74,000.

Over 6,021 individual collections were made using 35 vans, with support from over 120 helpers each day and over 63 tonnes of Christmas Trees were responsibly recycled.

Since 2001 the Christmas Tree Collection has raised over £575,000, this figure represents the amount going to the Hospice after expenses had been deducted.

Richard Raymond, one of the organisers, said "It is a simple idea which works on the principle of save all that mess in your car by having your Christmas tree collected in return for a small donation. You book in with us and we will collect and recycle your old tree and collect your donation to the Hospice - no mess and no worries!"

The suggested minimum donation for having your Christmas Tree collected is £4 per tree, which will run the Hospice for about 1 minute, however the volunteers request that you are as generous as you can be for this worthwhile cause.

To help the volunteers reach their target of collecting 7000 trees in January 2016, book your collection online. The closing date for collection requests is 5pm on Thursday, 7th January.

This is such a great idea. The volunteers are efficient and really helpful. Do it if you possibly can.
