Alderley Edge Methodist Church will host the 7th Christmas Tree Festival this weekend, from midday on Friday 4th December, when the church will be beautifully decorated with a display of around 50 trees - donated by local organisations, schools and businesses.

The festival will conclude with a concert at 3pm on Sunday, 6th December, when the church welcomes the Echo Flute Duo.

Formed in 2013, Echo Flute Duo is a collaboration of two of the Northwest's emerging artists, Jennifer Dyson and Anna Rosa Mari, whose passion for chamber music has brought them together to explore the mostly-underplayed repertoire for two flutes.

The duo studied together at the Royal Northern College of Music, developing a friendship that extended into their performing, before graduating and working as freelance flautists.

Between them, the duo have won competitions such as the RNCM Chamber Wind Music Prize, the Mediterranean Youth Competition, prizes from the British Flute Society and finalist in the prestigious RNCM Gold Medal Soloist Competition and St. Martin-in-the-Fields International Chamber Competition.

Both keen orchestral musicians, Anna and Jenny are freelance players with orchestras such as the Halle Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, British Sinfonietta, Welsh Session Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic and Greek National Opera.

Jean Walker said "We are very much looking forward to welcoming them back as a duo.

"It promises to be a delight, not least as they have gone to the trouble of arranging some Christmas music (the Nutcracker) for two flutes!"

Tickets for the concert, priced £5 each, are available from the church office on 01625 586713 or email [email protected].
