Alderley Edge Union Club hosted special evening for their members and guests last week to help raise money for two local charities.

Over 140 people attended an evening of anecdotes, chat and tales with television presenter, actor and comedian Les Dennis on Saturday, 28th November.

Terry Bowes, Secretary of Alderley Edge Union Club, said "It was a fantastic night. Les was brilliant, a real gent and a brilliant entertainer. He was really funny with tales to tell from when he first started out. He also went above and beyond what he was asked to do."

His first set was a collection of tales and anecdotes about his life and career followed by a question and answer style session.

Terry added "He talked to the audience, not at them and couldn't believe that everyone knew each other."

Pam and Chrissy served up a hotpot for a minimum donation of £1 for Children's Adventure Farm Trust.

The money raised from the evening will be split, with £300 going to the Children's Adventure Farm Trust and £270 for the Bosley Disaster Fund.

Terry said "Many thanks to all who turned up and to all who helped make it a memorable evening."
