The Avenue win NEC Business Award for advertising promotion featuring Robbie Savage

Promotional Feature

The Avenue Creative Agency, based in Alderley Edge, won 'Best Design/Creative' at the glittering North East Cheshire Business Awards 2015, held at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa.

The press ad and poster campaign was thought up by agency Creative Director, Adrian Dews, who presented local tailors Harris & Howard Bespoke with the idea ahead of the Brazil World Cup 2014. The piece featured former footballer and BBC sports pundit Robbie Savage being measured for a suit, sartorially mirroring the recognisable pose of Rio's Christ the Redeemer statue.

Appointed to devise a promotional ad and poster concept that would grab attention and be "iconic with a twist", the idea proved to be entirely on brief. Amazingly this one concept for a small, family-run tailoring business in Alderley Edge has gone on to gain national and global publicity. The striking image quickly attracted public and media attention, appearing as a news item in The Independent and Sunday Mail, French fashion blogs, Brazilian social media pages and was even re-tweeted by Robbie himself to his 1.6 million Twitter followers.

The award comes on the back of a productive period of diverse work for The Avenue. Recent projects include producing a website for rock band Kingdom 1 and music video for their charity song 'Whispers', proceeds of which will go to the Adaptive Grand Slam, a history-making expedition led by one of Prince Harry's Arctic Heroes, Captain Martin Hewitt. After being inspired by the Adaptive Grand Slam's story, The Avenue were delighted to create new branding and website for Hewitt and the team.

Over the past year the agency has undertaken design and branding work for London based legal recruitment specialists, Lucid Legal and luxury sector clients, Lusso and Sensory International. They are also currently responsible for the branding and packaging of a new sports nutrition company that will be launching in 2016.

Whether promoting local or national businesses or contributing to amazing charitable causes, 2016 is looking likely to be an even more exciting year for The Avenue. If you have a new business enquiry please get in touch via [email protected].
