Three organised displays will be held in the village next weekend to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.

Alderley Edge Community Primary School are preparing for their annual Bonfire and Firework Display which will takes place on the school field on Friday, 6th November.

Gates open at 5.30pm and once agin there will be plenty of entertainment for all the family. In addition to the professional firework display and bonfire there will be fairground rides, stalls and refreshments including a bar, hot drinks, hot dogs, burgers and cakes.

Headteacher Mr Perry said "There has been a Bonfire and Firework Display at the school for more than 25 years and the traditional village family event gets better year on year. This year the fireworks will be launched to a fanfare of music and sound making it one of the best displays in the area. As well as the bonfire and fireworks the children and adults can ride of traditional fairground rides, bouncy slides, buy candy floss or simply join their parents in the school hall for a hot dog or burger.

"There is even a bar if the parents and visitors want a beer or a glass of mulled wine. We are looking forward to welcoming not only parents and friends of the school but visitors from across the local community at our family Bonfire and Firework evening."

The Drum and Monkey will then be hosting their annual Fireworks Display on Saturday, 7th November. Entrance is free and the celebrations will kick off about 5pm with a hog roast followed by the fireworks display at about 7.30pm.

Then on Sunday, 8th November, Alderley Edge Cricket Club will be hosting their annual fireworks display. The gates will open at 4pm for pre-fireworks entertainment, including children's fairground rides, barbecue and licensed bar.

John Berry, Manager of the cricket club, said "This is the eighth year of this very popular village event that has regularly attracted over 1000 people from Alderley and surrounding areas.

"The display is very much a family event culminating in the spectacular display, prior to the fireworks children are well catered for by the ever popular funfair whilst parents can enjoy a warming mulled wine with a BBQ being equally popular with children and adults alike."

"Tickets are available from Alderley Edge Cricket Club and those attending are urged to purchase prior to the day to fast track entrance on the night and also receive tickets at a preferential rate."

My daughter Lucy has pointed me to your site because of my involvement with the AE Primary School Bonfire and Fireworks nights. I was the original organiser. Our first ever was on Wednesday 5th November 1980, when I was Chairman of the PTA. The school had been invited to Nether Alderley School Fireworks the year before and my close friend on the PTA, Robert Hadland and I decided we could do better. I organised the shows each year up to and including 1984, when I also ran the PA system. My family left Alderley Edge and moved back to Hertfordshire in 1985.

Jean Hinds was the Head Teacher during this time, and she was always nervous that we might damage the football pitch; more worried about that I believe than that the stored fireworks might blow the roof off! Lots more I could recount of our very happy 9 years living in Blackshaw Lane.

it does get a bit boring after the 5th why don't the organisers of these 3 disturbances join together do one event on the 5th regardless of what night of the week it falls on, and do a 3 way split on the money raised and give our pets and animals a bit more consideration.
