Former solicitor is ahead of the curve

A married mum of two, from Alderley Edge has created an eye catching new caravan which is very different to most other caravans on the market.

Former solicitor Cathy Chamberlain has spent the past four years creating the unique Barefoot Caravan which is curved and has retro styling.

She explained "The inspiration for the caravan came from a wet weekend camping with the kids about 4 years ago! I searched around for a "cool" caravan and couldn't find one, so decided to make one myself.

"I wanted to create a caravan that was stylish from the outside, as well as inside, and that was easy to tow and use. It has all your home comforts inside. As well as selling the caravans, I intend to use one myself for trips away with the kids, and festivals I go to with friends."

Cathy added "I love the curved shape of the caravan, although it presented many challenges when it came to fitting it out – now I know why most caravans are square! But I am really proud of the end result."

Although it is compact, the caravan sleeps two (or three very good friends) and has a kitchen, heating, hot water, shower and toilet, and lots of storage space. The seats convert into a 6ft x 6ft bed.

Cathy said, "I wanted to have the same quality inside the caravan that you would want in your own home, so it has got some lovely furnishings, high quality fittings, and real oak worktops.

"The feedback since launching the caravan 3 weeks ago has been amazing. People have been looking at it not only for taking away for weekends, but also for use as a home office, mobile cake shop, mobile nail spa, and lots of other business uses. And I have got lots of enquiries from the US and Australia – the power of the internet!"
