The Alderley Edge Orchestra is delighted to welcome a talented young soloist from Chethams School of Music for their first concert of the new season.

Seventeen year old James Ellis will play Schumann's Piano Concerto on Saturday 14th November, having previously performed at the British Embassy in Paris, Manchester Cathedral and the Bridgewater Hall.

The concert will be conducted by Marco Bellasi, Junior Fellows conductor at the Royal Northern College of Music. Marco graduated in conducting from the Milan Conservatoire and has worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Halle and the Manchester Camerata as well as making appearances in Italy, Australia, Estonia and Ulster.

The programme also includes Beethoven's Fidelio overture and Brahms Fourth Symphony.

Speaking about the orchestra, its Chairman Roger Dowling said "Although we are a relatively small orchestra, Alderley Edge has a great track record for attracting talented musicians of international standing. In the past we have enjoyed performances with the BBC Young Musician of the Year and we regularly welcome rising stars from around the world with recent soloists and conductors from Russia, The Netherlands, Spain and France. This coming season will be no exception."

The concert will take place at Alderley Edge Methodist Church, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets, costing £10 for adults and £1 for under eighteens, will be available on the door or can be bought in advance through the Alderley Edge Orchestra website or on the ticket hotline 07813 075119.
