A public exhibition will be held on Wednesday 21 October as part of a community consultation on plans for the future of Alderley Park.

The event will be held in the Conference Centre at Alderley Park between 2pm and 7.30pm. The exhibition is open to all members of the public, and owners Manchester Science Partnership are encouraging the widest possible participation on the day, and in the consultation process.

Rowena Burns, Chief Executive Officer of Manchester Science Partnerships said: "There is a deep bond between the local community and the exceptional science campus at Alderley Park – pride in the medical breakthroughs which are AstraZeneca's legacy, and ownership in the highly skilled workforce, many of whom live locally.

"It is our absolute commitment to create a future for Alderley Park which builds on its achievements and international reputation. As AstraZeneca gradually vacates its exceptional facilities here, we will adapt them to the needs of the diverse bioscience businesses who will deliver the next generation of new medicines and treatments which will keep the UK and AP at the forefront of the global life sciences industry.

"Alderley Park was developed for a single global pharma business. The industry is changing fast, and we must adapt the facilities here so that they work for a community of large and small, regional, national and international life science companies. We are also committed to working with the AstraZeneca scientists who have chosen to stay in this region, both to ensure we retain their talent, and to support those who want to set up their own businesses.

"We are currently preparing for the works that will be required in order for this to happen and we would like to share our current thoughts with the local community before we submit a planning application. I would encourage people to come along to the consultation event to view the plans and to provide comment."

Site masterplans and designs will be on display at the public exhibition. The masterplans will explain how Alderley Park will be developed into a world-class, centre of excellence for life sciences, as well as providing enhanced recreational, sports and leisure facilities and new homes for the area. Members of the team will be on hand to discuss the proposals with attendees.

Anyone unable to attend the exhibition, but who would like more information can view the proposals at www.alderleyparkconsultation.co.uk from 21st October.

Members of the public with questions about the proposals are most welcome to contact the development team on 0800 996 1612.
