Plans are well underway for the Alderley Edge Christmas lights switch on and market which are set to transform the village centre and kick off the festive celebrations.

With just over a month to go local residents are urged to put Thursday 19th November in their diary, so they don't miss out on what is one of the highlights in the village's social calendar.

Once again, London Road will be closed to traffic to enable a stage to be situated, as it was last year, close to NatWest Bank and market stalls will run down the centre of the high street, as far as Costa.

To keep the little ones entertained there will be fairground rides, a snow globe, face painter and some street entertainers - but of course no festive celebrations would be complete without an appearance from Father Christmas who will arriving on his sleigh.

Councillor Christine Munro, who is helping to organise the event, said "It will be similar to last year but bringing in a few additions and surprises."

The Alderley Edge Christmas light switch on and Christmas market on Thursday 19th November will start at 5pm and finish at 9pm.

There will be live entertainment on the stage throughout the evening with the lights being switched on, by a surprise guest, at 7pm.
