Plans for new access road and sports pitch at Horseshoe Farm

DSCN1396

Select Property has applied to create a new access road to their buildings and offices at Horseshoe Farm.

The proposed driveway off Wilmslow Road will reduce traffic on Horseshoe Lane, which is a private road.

The scheme also contains landscaping works which include a front boundary hedge and tree planting along Wilmslow Road. All existing trees and hedges on site will be retained and it is proposed that up to an additional 100 trees will be planted within the site along with a wildflower meadow and the creation of a pond and wetland areas.

Additionally, the plan is to provide external seating areas, grass paths through the meadow space for walking/jogging and an all-weather multi use games area for employees.

The planning application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 15/4376M. The last date for submitting comments is 20th October and a decision is expected by 19th November.

A small point; Horseshoe Lane is NOT a private road, it is an unadopted road.

Hi Duncan, Thanks for the correction but I wrote it was a private road as there is a sign at the Wilmslow Road end which says "Private Road" above the Horseshoe Lane sign.

1. Hi Lisa,
the sign has been there for years but it is wrong. Its just that no-one has bothered to take it down.

2. I have dealt with the guys at Horseshoe Farm twice. Once to get rid of run off water and once to ask for an internal 10mph sign to go up. On both occasions they were polite, agreed and did it quickly; so I'm O.K. with them.

3. Some time ago, I spoke with the AESG Headmistress who told me that the school had applied to Cheshire East to be allowed to open their gates, fronting onto London Rd., to create a drive through, twice a day, with drop off/pick up. The idea being to relieve the on-street parking around the school. C.E. said no.
I have believed from this and other occasions, that C.E. have a policy of not opening new entries to London Rd. and to get rid of the existing ones where possible.
If the application from the Horseshoe Farm guys is approved, then perhaps the school could re-visit their application? A little improvement at any rate?

@Lisa

I have just used the Interactive Map of the Cheshire East Council Website.

This DOES NOT show Horse Shoe Lane as an "Adopted Highway"

I've emailed a screen shot and sent it t you by email.

@Duncan

I suggest you get in touch with Cheshire East Highways to confirm if what the interactive map shows is correct.
