Marie Curie fundraisers celebrate 2nd birthday

P1020379

A group of volunteers who fundraise in Alderley Edgeand Wilmslow for Marie Curie have celebrated their second birthday and their success in raising over £19,000 for the charity so far this year.

The fundraising group raised this impressive ammount through various fundraising activities, including organising stalls, events and looking after the collection tins distributed in shops and businesses all over Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. They also collected in supermarkets over Christmas and during the charity's annual Great Daffodil Appeal in March.

The group is made up of local residents from Alderley Edge and Wilmslow who meet every month. Their support goes towards giving people with terminal illnesses the choice to spend their final days at home. Marie Curie Nurses provide patients and their families with free hands-on care and emotional support, in their own homes, right until the end. The £19,026.50 raised will provide 951 hours of nursing care.

Jessica Herrington, community fundraiser for Cheshire said; "This is a lovely group of very dedicated supporters, we are so grateful for their support and the funds that they have raised. Their dedication shows in their willingness to seek out new support in the community. I hope the group continues to raise more and more in the years to come."

The fundraising group are keen to expand and are looking to welcome new members. If you are interested in being part of the group, please email Jessica Herrington or call her on 0161 255 2800.
