Cheshire East Council has approved an extension to the programme of road closures for Stevens Street whilst building work is being carried out to create a new development in the centre of the village.

MH Stainton were initially given permission to close Stevens Streets on 20 separate dates between 13th July and 25th September but this has now been extended because, due to design and manufacturing issues, the builders have not finished lifting all the material with cranes.

Eamonn McDaid, Construction Manager, explained "We are still on build program and up to now we have only used 7 road closures out of the 20 allocated. We have another this Friday, 25th September, and that is when our current permit lapses."

MH Stainton have been granted an extension for the road closures until Friday 9th October 2015 to enable the renovations on Steven Street to be carried out safely.

The road closures will be in place from 9am and 4pm, during which time a two way system will be introduced on Stevens Street, for its entire length, to provide access for residents and businesses.

To accommodate the flow of two way traffic the parking bays along Stevens Street will be suspended between 9am and 4pm on these days.
