Cyclists are invited to join a local charity for an epic bike ride around the Peak District on Sunday, 20th September.

The Seashell Sportive will travel through some of the Peak District's most beautiful scenery offering the opportunity to get fit, have fun and support the life-changing work of the Seashell Trust.

Participants can choose from an entry level 50km, a challenging scenic 100km with climbs or, if you think you're legs are up to it, the epic 160km route with over 10,000 ft of elevation - all whilst taking in fabulous views of Cheshire and Derbyshire, and raising money for a fantastic local cause.

Since 1823, Seashell Trust has been working in the local community to provide a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with severe learning difficulties. Every year, Seashell Trust supports hundreds of young adults, developing a whole range of life skills, including personal health and home management.

A host of local companies are sponsoring the charity event including Royles, Royles Jaguar, Harris & Ross and Total Fitness where the ride will set off from 7.30am.

Andrew Royle, Managing Director of Royle who are one of the event sponsors, commented "I was initially invited along to the Seashell Trust to offer some advice about arranging a cycling event, however once I understood more about the amazing work they did I just had to get involved" and "It nice to several local businesses working together to help such a great cause."

Entry fee starts from £30 and every penny goes towards Seashell Trust – riders can also go one step further and get friends and family to sponsor them to raise even more money.

A portion of the money raised will go towards buying specialist bicycles so that some of the students at Seashell Trust will get the chance to experience the thrill of cycling.

Jo Barber, Events Fundraiser at the Seashell Trust, said, "We're delighted to have so many cyclists participating in the event, who, with the help of some very generous sponsors, including Morgan Sindall and Slater Heelis, will be raising money to help our profoundly disabled children and young people."

Visit the Seashell Sportive website for further information. Riders can register online before Saturday or enter in person on they day.

The 160k ride will set off between 7.30am and 8.30am, the 100k will depart between 8.00am and 9.00am and the 50k ride will set off between 8.30am and 9.30am.
