Alderley Edge Parish Council, along with other parish councils, have been approached by a Peter Higham, of Higham Commercial, who is acting as an agent for landowners and developers with an interest in land around the south and west of the village.

Speaking at the Parish Council meeting on Monday, 7th September, Councillor Craig Browne said "My fellow councillors have agreed that I should Mr Higham as the ward councillor simply to listen to his proposal and report back to other councillors.

"We are keen that it should be a matter of public record that this does not imply either an acceptance or a rejection of any proposals and that any meeting is purely an information seeking exercise."

In the interests of openness and transparency perhaps Councillor Browne could tell us about the nature of this proposal. It sounds as if it might be based on Peter Higham's submission to the local plan on behalf of the owners of Ryleys Farm, and their agreement with Gladman Developments to promote the building of 800 homes on green belt land between the village and the bypass. Hopefully we can be assured that the subject of the meeting is something completely different.

No harm in meeting this Peter Higham it could be an excellent opportunity to tell him face to face that his land owning clients surrounding the village are not going to turn the village into a sprawling development.

Hi Alan,
The purpose of the meeting is to have the nature of any proposal explained to me; at present, I have no details to share. Collectively, we have taken the decision to at least listen to what is being suggested, so that we may then formulate a carefully considered response. As soon as the details are available, we will of course share them with the rest of the village.
Kind regards,
Craig
