The Dogfather: Urgent help for you and your dog

IMG_2208

A massive thanks to all those dogs who attended last Saturday's Behaviour Clinic and trusted me to help them with their issues. We had a few instant successes, a number of owners who began to see the light and one or two dogs so desperate for help I plan to work directly with them right away.

A lot of behaviour owners call 'excitement' is stress. Many of these dogs spend every waking minute stressed out of their brains. They never switch of because they can't. For them relaxation does not exist.

What sort of life is that for any animal?

Almost all this 'stress' is created by owners who, with the very best intentions, are sending out all the wrong messages.

The good news is dogs are always ready to change once you do. On Saturday I took a German Shepherd, whose owner insisted would 'kill' any dog he didn't know, for a walk around the park with a couple of my dogs with no problem whatsoever.

One little terrier came along barking non-stop and driving his embarrassed owner to distraction. Within a few minutes he was lying down on the grass enjoying the sunshine. All this behaviour was owner generated.

It's very hard for kind well-meaning owners to realise they are the cause of their dog's unbalanced behaviour but once they accept and understand rehabilitation is inevitable. Furthermore in rehabilitating their dog these owners often become more confident and rounded personalities themselves. When you rehabilitate a troubled dog everyone wins.

My utmost apologies if I was unable to get around to your dog last Saturday. I did start an hour early and stay an extra hour after the show finished but was still unable to see all the dogs waiting for attention.

So... to make amends I shall be at Morley Green Dog Show in Wilmslow (SK9 5NT) this Saturday, August 29th, from noon to 4pm and if you want a fixed appointment just text me on 075-905-60012. Otherwise just turn up on the day and I'll see you soon as I can.

It's always a fun show so you can enter your dog for Waggiest Tail while you are waiting.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you and your dog on Saturday.
