GCSE success for Alderley girls

Following on from last week's excellent A Level results, pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls are yet again celebrating, having achieved impressive grades across a whole range of subjects in their GCSEs.

Across all the subjects, nearly 40% of all grades were at A*/A and 70% at A* to B grades.

The girls achieved particularly strong results in Triple Science GCSE with 69% gaining A*/ A grades in all three sciences. Other subjects in which they achieved highly include ICT with 60% A*/ A and Religion and Philosophy with 68% A*/A. The first cohort of girls to take Computing as a GCSE subject achieved a 100% pass rate.

Particular congratulations go to Sophie Christie with 7A* and 3A grades; Helena Lewis with 6A* and 5A grades; Zoe Aldridge who achieved 6A* and 4A grades; Holly Bennett who gained 5A* and 4A grades; Emily Moylan who achieved 5A* and 2A grades and Becky Moore with 4A* and 5A grades.

Mrs Susan Goff, Headmistress, commented: "Yet again the girls have shown that determination, hard work and commitment pay off and they are to be warmly congratulated on their excellent results which are richly deserved. We look forward to welcoming them into the Sixth Form in a week's time. I have every confidence in their ability to work hard and succeed as they embark on the next exciting stage of their academic journey."
