Police were called to a road traffic collision on Macclesfield Road on Saturday, 8th August, involving a grey Volkswagen Golf and a black Ford Mondeo.
Officers arrived at 11.30pm to discover that the driver of the black Ford Mondeo had overturned and the fled the scene. The driver of the Golf was uninjured.
A 35-year-old man has since been arrested in relation to the incident, he has been released on police bail until 4 September 2015.
Sgt Angela Coppock said "At approximately 00:19 the following day a local male was detained and arrested for leaving a scene of an accident, failing to report and suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit.
"The male was interviewed and has subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries."
