The Dogfather: Improve your relationship with your dog forever

Our new Taster Classes for dog owners are now under way. For many owners understanding their dog is a revelation. Many of the problems they struggle with are not really problems at all once they have an explanation.

One lady who worried endlessly about her dog's nervous behaviour was mesmerised to see a massive improvement once she adopted a different attitude.

A gentleman owner complained that his dog was 'perfectly fine' most of the time but would suddenly lunge aggressively at another dog 'for no reason whatsoever.'

Once I pointed out the reason for this aggressive reaction the owner's anxiety subsided and he was able to deal with the issue quite easily.

They say knowledge is power and it certainly is when you are dealing with a canine behaviour issue.

With the best will in the world and the very best intentions owners often create a behaviour issue in their dog and in a genuine attempt to resolve the problem...they make it worse.

Without a basic understanding of canine psychology and communication we send out messages that are perfectly clear to us but mean something entirely different to a dog.

Fussing your dog when you have been separated for some time is what pack members do to a returning Leader. Of course owners don't intend to convey Leadership upon their dog but that's precisely what they are doing.

Shouting with frustration is NOT Leadership. Dogs do not follow unstable Leaders (only humans do that) but so many owners get angry then wonder why their dogs ignore them.

Dogs without a Leader will display inappropriate behaviour (barking, jumping up, refusing to come when called, dog aggression, etc) therefore it's essential owners fulfil that Leadership role.

Once they do it changes everything.

In three weeks our new Taster Class has changed frustrated owners into calm Leaders.

They like it and the dogs love it.

Three weeks could improve your relationship with your dog forever.
