Congleton Road to close for three days

Congleton Road is to be closed for surface dressing during three days in August.

Resurfacing will take place on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th August between 8am and 6pm. There will then be a further closure on Sunday 23rd August to allow lining works to take place.

On these dates, traffic will be diverted onto the A34 Alderley Edge bypass, although a traffic management system will be in place to allow residents and businesses access to Congleton Road and the adjacent streets.

In addition to surface dressing, there will also be a remarking of the double yellow lines going up Congleton Road, solid white lines in the centre of the road and "SLOW" signs will be put in place as drivers approach Hazelcroft Gardens and Congleton Close.

Councillor Craig Browne said "As recent evidence has shown, speeding vehicles are a problem on this stretch of road, as they are in other parts of the village. I am pleased that CE Highways have responded so quickly and positively to my request for action, following residents concerns about this stretch of road."
